By Stine Adrian on 15 Oct | 0 comments
Kate Hardy (BA) (MRes) is a PhD student in the Geography Department at Queen Mary, University of London. Kate is supervised by Jane Wills.
Kate's interests are feminist theory, political economy, sexuality, sex work, bodywork, women's activism and new forms of organising. Her PhD research seeks to explore the patterns of organising of sex workers in labour and social movements, using their multiple identities as informal workers, women, mothers and activists.
During her fellowship at GExcel Kate will be researching within the theme Gender, Sexuality and Global Change. The research, entitled "Rethinking Action: Gendered and Sexualised Space and Identities in
the Struggle of AMMAR'S" will explore the relationship between sexuality, space and activism amongst female sex workers in Argentina. The research will use data collected from interviews and ethnographic research with leaders of AMMAR, the Argentinean Association of Female Sex Workers in order to explore the ways in which gender and sexuality structure and order the spaces and nature of resistance and organisation.
